Panini Mistake Floods Market with Downtowns

Panini mistake floods market with downtowns
Panini made a mistake with their downtowns when over 200 of the insert cards were pulled by breakers out of 2023 Donruss FOTL Optic Football cases last week. On average, the big name breakers pulled 25 of them on their streams, prompting excitement, but also much confusion. After a “72 Hour Audit,” Panini admitted that it was a manufacturing mistake that led to the over printing of the cards, but said that “the rest of the Donruss Football Optic manufacturing and packout was normal and unaffected.” The reaction was quick. Many people pointed out that these breakers have a suspicious reputation, fairly or not, of always breaking hot cases. Discussion also surrounded on how this would affect the market for these particular cards. Would it affect all Downtowns, or just the 2023 variety? Streamers also wondered aloud about the fact that Panini is losing the rights to the NFL in 2025, and if it was not a genuine mistake, if that played a part. It will take some time for these cards to be graded and start affecting Pop counts, but it feels safe to say that your chances of buying one for a good price just got better.
